New Re-Animator TV series planned?! [15 Nov 2008|10:44pm]

[ mood | annoyed ]

This is (supposedly) for real:

Teenaged Herbert West TV show in development

This seriously makes me angry.

My favorite bits:

[CRAWFORD TILLINGHAST] (18) – Miskatonic’s resident stud and bad boy. He’s cocky, competitive and highly intelligent, but his jealousy of Herbert could be his downfall if he’s not careful.

HAHAHAHA!!! It's like Jeff vs. Jeff!

[HOWIE PETERSON] (18)...It turns out his last name is really Lovecraft

It wasn't funny in Beyond Re-Animator, it's SO not funny here.

One of my lj friends said it's like Re-An for CW. Blech. What is this, the Re-Tweenimator?

Any thoughts on this? I'll still watch it, but probably to make fun of it.

First post - with stuff [06 Nov 2008|11:53pm]

[ mood | bored ]

So yeah - I'm a long time lurker here and I love the Re-An series, but am not too prone to slash fics unless they're really well done. Personally, I love the new Hack/Slash comics with Herbert - I was shipping him with Cassie before the comic even came out. I don't know how this crack pairing surfaced, either. Don't ask - it probably involved procrastination, wandering thoughts, and a research paper that was due in the next three hours.

But! If you like Re-An het, here's a bunch of Re-An/Hack Slash crossover drabbles completely AU from the comics we have and are purely a way for me to not pay attention in formal writing class.

For the love of all that is is good and evil, ignore Ch 1 - start with Ch. 2 at the link or if you're depraved/bored and want to skip to the PG-13 filth, just go to Ch 13, 14, and 15.

Follow the link because fake cuts are a waste of time!

Re-Animator Audience Participation! [25 Oct 2008|01:23pm]

[ mood | informative ]

Do you enjoy interacting with your movie? Do you feel the need to yell things at a movie screen? Are you a horror movie/Jeffrey Combs/Re-Animator fan?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, I have something fun for you! Re-Animator audience participation!

For those "virgins" not in the know, the concept began at a midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show where people started yelling things back at the characters on the screen and tossing items related to the movie around the theater. Other films have followed suit, and there is even audience participation for Scarface now (!!!)

Although a cult classic horror film, Re-Animator has never had its own audience participation...until now!

Read on for more detailsCollapse )

"Meatball?" "Just put your shoes on." [16 Oct 2008|08:46pm]

[ mood | creative ]

Not only am I new to LiveJournal (long time coming), I'm new to this community. Would've posted something earlier, but I'm still figuring things out 'round here. :)

And since this IS a Re-Animator community, I have a request. I'm currently on the hunt for Re-An fanfiction, preferably non-slash but I'll take a look at anything. Any suggestions would be super!

Hack/Slash - Re-Animator Update [06 Oct 2008|06:00pm]

[ mood | extremely annoyed ]

Wondering where Issues #16 & #17 are of the special Re-Animator crossover with the popular comic, Hack/Slash? After harrassing asking my comic guys for 2 weeks about it, I finally got an answer last night online.

A bizarre and ridiculous lawsuit has just been filed against the comic's distributor, Diamond by a small startup called, "Re-Animator LLC." They sent a Cease and Desist order to Diamond for its use of the word, "re-animator" in the comic's title. This new startup apparently has the authority over the words, "re-animator" and "reanimator" when dealing with any comics, films, or other intellectual/entertainment related properties. Hack/Slash's publisher Devil's Due has chosen to release the next two Re-Animator crossover issues independently, so they'll still be out, but they'll be late.

I can't begin to express my frustration and annoyance at this frivolous lawsuit. Brian Yuzna coined the term, "re-animator" (with the hyphen) back in the mid-80s and owns the franchise exclusively. For a new startup to come along and claim they have the rights to a word in the English language is beyond preposterous.

Yuzna is quoted as saying:

"It may seem crazy to Re-Animator fans to think that a company that had nothing to do with the classic films could actually claim ownership of the Re-Animator brand and threaten to stop anyone else from creating comics, films or merchandise with the word 'reanimator' or 're-animator' in it - even the actual producer of the films that created the brand - but in this wacky world that is exactly what has happened."

One wonders what the fate of future Re-An films will be if this idiotic LLC decides to dig in its heels even more.

Random Post of joy! [29 Sep 2008|05:00pm]

[ mood | excited ]

I'm so happy ^_^ My Sister found a VHS Copy of re-animator in a charity shop and brought it for me, which i think is the niciest thing she has ever done for me! I collect old horror vhs tapes (mostly from 80s') because i love the cover art so much. The annoying thing is that i went to university yesterday so i wont be seeing it untill xmas : ( .
Yay, it makes me happy. This is a good omen!

[ mood | pleased ]

Thanks to a heads up from dandydevildog, we now know the first issue of the three-part Re-Animator - Hack/Slash crossover series of comics is now out!

I just finished reading it and it's very good! True to Jeff's portrayal in the films. :)

Hack/Slash - Re-An Crossover - teaser pages! [22 Jul 2008|09:11am]

[ mood | disappointed ]

There are 5 new "teaser" pages online now for the first issue of the 3 arc Hack/Slash and Re-Animator crossover comic series coming out next month.

You can view them here:

Frankly, I'm a little disappointed in the artwork. It's not as interesting as I would have liked and looks almost nothing like Jeff, although they tout it as "Jeffrey Combs as Herbert West" in the series.

"This...morbid doodling with human body parts has got to stop!" [22 Jun 2008|08:05am]

[ mood | amused ]

Alternate title by Jamie: "I don't consider food hygiene morbid, detective." XD

This was first posted by Catherine my_moondreams in her lj this morning.

The UK is using this new little "mascot" to warn people of foodborne illnesses.

Does he remind you of anyone?

Want to see the little guy in action? Click here

And you can download your own posters and other ephemera here

Catherine tells me the logo used to just be an eye, but no one thought this was "menacing" enough, so they added some disembodied fingers as well. LOL.

Wonder what Tony Doublin thinks of all this?

More News on Re-An + Hack/Slash Crossover [27 May 2008|01:56pm]

[ mood | hopeful ]

There is a recent interview with comic writer/artist of Hack/Slash Tim Seeley and Re-An producer Brian Yuzna here in which they mention more about the upcoming Herbert West crossover story (coming in August).

Yuzna also mentions:

"I am working on a comic book version of the first [Re-Animator] movie right now; and I plan to go onto the second film after that. I’d also like to tell the story of what happened between the two films as well."

How cool is that gonna be?! :D

I'm not a big comic book reader, but I sure will become one if we get new and actually approved official Re-An comics! :D

Re-An + Hack/Slash Crossover Comic! [07 May 2008|11:23am]

This looks kind of nifty. Comic Hack/Slash is having a set of 3 special crossover issues where their main character will interact with Herbert West!

It's got Brian Yuzna's blessing (yet I wonder about Jeff's thoughts on his image being used, hopefully with consent this time!)

More info here

Rather nifty cover art under the cutCollapse )

Jeff has also just lent his distinct voice to a new venture that will bring graphic novel, The Night Driver to life. He plays the main character, Hurdis Jones, who starts out as a traveling salesman, but soon becomes the Night Driver! I just got the comic and the story is pretty cool. I can't wait to hear Jeff play Hurdis Jones!
